Macedon Ranges, VIC, Australia
Crafted by Matt Harrop, Silent Way Pinot Noir 2024 is a bold, fragrant expression of cool-climate Victoria. Primarily sourced from the high-altitude Quarry Ridge Vineyard in Kilmore (leased by Silent Way since 2022), the 2024 vintage also includes fruit from Silvan in the Yarra Valley, after a spring frost reduced yields in Macedon.
A long, dry season delivered intensely flavoured fruit. Hand-harvested and sorted, the grapes were fully destemmed without crushing to preserve whole berries, amplifying perfume and texture. The wine underwent natural malolactic fermentation and gentle maturation in seasoned French oak hogsheads and puncheons. Bottled unfined in February 2025 after resting on lees until January.
Deep ruby in the glass, it opens with dark plum, blackberry and black cherry aromas, layered with spice, cassis and a hint of dark chocolate. The palate is powerful and brooding, showing ripe black fruits, pomegranate and silky tannins that frame the long, savoury finish. A structured and expressive Pinot Noir with real ageing potential.
