Geelong, VIC, Australia
The Modewarre Pinot Noir 2024 is sourced from Mulline’s coolest and most coastal vineyard—Brown Magpie, planted in 2001 on sandy loam over clay, estuary marl and limestone. Just 20km from Torquay, this site delivers Pinot Noir of perfume, definition and saline freshness.
Planted to MV6, 777, 114 and 115 clones, the vineyard parcels were hand-harvested and fermented separately, with whole bunch inclusion ranging from 0% to 100%. Wild yeast fermentation in open vats with 9–14 days on skins was followed by pressing to French oak (25% new). The final blend includes 80% whole bunch, matured in a mix of new and seasoned oak before bottling unfined with minimal filtration in December 2024.
Tasting Note
Ultra-perfumed, lifted aromatics of brambly red fruits, rose bush and warm spice. The palate is medium-bodied, sumptuous yet finely delineated, with savoury structure, bright acidity and a very long finish. A wine of class and poise, destined to age gracefully for a decade or more.

“A single-vineyard wine from the Surf Coast, the vineyard planted in ’01; 80% whole bunches and matured in 30% new barriques. A bright, deep crimson. Ultra perfumed and lifted with its bouquet of brambly red fruits, rose bush and warm spices. Medium bodied, this is both sumptuous and beautifully delineated on the very long, classically structured palate. Absolutely tops from beginning to end and a wine destined to age effortlessly over the next decade or longer.”
