Yarra Valley, VIC, Australia
"Made with 20% whole bunches, 10% new oak. A light, bright crimson. Pretty and perfumed. Aromas of redcurrants, strawberry and blood oranges together with a little rose petal. Light to medium bodied with delicate and finely tuned tannins on the elegant finish."
Delicate yet quietly structured, the 2024 Pinot Noir from Warramate is a beautifully lacy expression of the Yarra Valley—light on its feet, but built with intent. Crafted from four estate blocks—including 60% old vine cuttings from Yarra Yering—it delivers red-fruited elegance with subtle whole-bunch complexity.
Fermentation was carried out in small open fermenters with varying levels of whole bunch inclusion—from 0 to 100%—to enhance lift and layer texture. Gentle hand plunging and basket pressing were followed by gravity transfer to French oak barrels (all seasoned), with natural malolactic fermentation in a cool underground cellar before winter.
In the glass, this wine shimmers with cranberry, watermelon and red cherry, underpinned by a whisper of sandalwood and spice. The palate is silky and medium-bodied, with dainty fruit, fine stalk tannins, and a savoury finish. Elegant, pure and refreshingly restrained.
