Yarra Valley, VIC, Australia
"Made from estate fruit from 2 vineyards (33 and 38 years old) and 2 clones (MV6 & D5V12). All destemmed fruit, fermented in foudres and matured in a combination of French puncheons and barriques (25% new) for 11 months. A bright medium crimson. A little reduction followed by redcurrants, plum and some charry oak. Tightly wound on the palate, there is good depth and freshness here and the tannins are ripe and fine. Give this another 6–12 months to really hit it straps."
This Pinot Noir has an immediate vibrant fruit aromas of red fruits with toasty oak overtones, reflective of the warmer year. The palate is finely layered opening with fleshy pure fruit, a silky texture, fine tannins and an elegant palate. It has wonderful persistence of flavour and excellent potential for long term cellaring.
The Reserve Wines reflect the heritage of the single Estate philosophy at TarraWarra, with the first vintage in 1986. The wines represent the best sites from the Estate's vineyards and are noted for their longevity and balance.
