Coal River Valley, TAS, Australia
The second release in Serrat’s exploration of Tasmania, the 2024 “Autres Terres” is sourced from a single site in the Coal River Valley—a region celebrated for its long, cool ripening and natural elegance. Crafted from a mix of Pommard and MV6 clones, the fruit was handled with minimal intervention, including a small portion of whole bunch and maturation in 500 L French oak puncheons. Only 96 dozen bottles were made.
The wine presents deep crimson-purple hues, offering darker-fruited aromatics than Serrat’s Yarra Valley Pinots. Dark cherries, wild blackberries, warm spices, and violets fill the bouquet, underpinned by purity and complexity. The palate is incredibly silky and detailed, flowing seamlessly with plush dark fruit, fine acidity, and firm tannins that add depth and concentration. A wine of both immediacy and longevity, it will improve beautifully through 2040.

Expert Review
⭐ 95 Points – Halliday Wine Companion
“From a vineyard in the Coal River and made in collaboration with Jim Chatto… darker fruited than Serrat's Yarra Pinots. Aromas of dark cherries, wild blackberries, warm spices and light floral notes lead onto the plushly fruited, well-structured palate. Good freshness and energy—plenty of enjoyment now and over the next few years.”
FinePinot Note
This is Tasmania through the Serrat lens—a Pinot Noir of aromatic depth, precise structure, and long ageing potential. Its dark-fruited core and floral lift make it a perfect match for roast lamb, duck breast, or wild mushroom dishes.

“From a vineyard in the Coal River and made in collaboration with Jim Chatto. 100% destemmed. A bright crimson purple. Unsurprisingly, darker fruited than Serrat's Yarra pinots. Aromas of dark cherries, wild blackberries, warm spices and light floral notes lead onto the plushly fruited, well-structured palate. There's good freshness and energy here and this will provide plenty of enjoyment now and over the next few years. 96 dozen made.”
