Central Otago, New Zealand
The flagship expression from Nanny Goat Vineyard, the 2022 Super Nanny Pinot Noir is a masterclass in elegance, structure, and site transparency. Sourced from a curated selection of top-performing parcels across Central Otago—including Queensberry, Pisa, Bannockburn, and Bendigo—this small-batch wine speaks fluently of place and precision.
A warm, dry vintage provided ideal ripening conditions across the region’s subzones. Hand-harvested fruit underwent natural fermentation in small open-top vessels, with 20% whole bunch inclusion and a large portion of whole berries retained. After 30–32 days on skins for a slow, extended maceration, the wine was pressed to French oak barriques (25% new) and matured for 14 months. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve purity and depth.
The nose is layered and evolving—raspberry, rose petal, dark chocolate, black tea, dried earth, and hints of peat smoke swirl around a dense core of black and blue fruit. The palate contrasts with a light-footed, silky texture, lifted by a crisp bead of acidity. Redcurrant, damson plum, raspberry and baking spice meld seamlessly, tapering into a bright, lingering finish.

Critics' Review
⭐ 95 Points – The Real Review
“An elegant rather than blockbuster Pinot Noir with a mix of floral/rose petal, dark cherry, roasted chestnut and subtle spicy flavours. Flavoursome and quite complex—hard to resist, though it clearly rewards patience.”
FinePinot Note
This is Central Otago Pinot at its most refined—intensely fruited yet delicately structured. Super Nanny 2022 combines depth, aromatic complexity and textural grace in a wine made for both collectors and connoisseurs. Ideal for game meats and quiet contemplation.

Central Otago has quickly established itself as ground zero for Pinot Noir in New Zealand-in the words of Jancis Robinson, "many believe this is where the Pinot grail is to be found".
