“ ...it’s all neatly packaged together making for delicious Pinot Noir drinking at $25” - Winepilot
This wine was sourced from our Claim 431 Vineyard in the Bendigo sub-region of Central Otago. The vineyard’s free draining loam soils over schist gravel make it a natural home for growing outstanding Pinot Noir. The huge diurnal temperature variation, adds to the structure and fruit concentration of the wine. A portion of this wine was aged in French oak barriques, while the balance was matured in stainless steel to retain fruit character.
Long growing season and summer heat deliver beautiful flavours wrapped in bright pure red and dark fruit aromas. Once a gold-mining region, Bendigo is framed by ancient, dry hills and fanned by westerly winds. Fruit from this vineyard is used to create Mud House Single Vineyard Claim 431 Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir and Mud House Central Otago Pinot Noir.

Central Otago has quickly established itself as ground zero for Pinot Noir in New Zealand-in the words of Jancis Robinson, "many believe this is where the Pinot grail is to be found".

"There’s a good mix of fruit, spice and earthiness on show here, and it’s all neatly packaged together making for delicious Pinot Noir drinking at $25. The nose brims with dark cherry and nutmeg spice first off in an open knit aesthetic, followed by forest floor, bramble, woody spice and black currant juice. The palate is medium bodied with a good push of intense fruit and spice akin to the nose before being furled within frisky acid and fine grained tannins to a juicy finish. A steal at this price."
