Gippsland, VIC, Australia
From limestone bluff to bottle, the 2023 MPV Pinot Noir is a compelling single-vineyard expression from coastal Gippsland—layered, savoury, and unmistakably soulful. Crafted from estate-grown fruit on the rare Terra Rossa soils of Myrtle Point Vineyard, this vintage strikes a fine balance between purity, structure and texture.
The 2023 season was a welcome return to form after several La Niña-affected vintages. Ample spring rain followed by a dry, moderate ripening season allowed fruit to mature slowly, building flavour without excessive sugar. Harvested on March 23, the fruit was fermented in small open vessels using three yeast strains for complexity (RC212, IOC Révélation Terroir, and M2), with gentle hand plunging and cool temperatures maintained throughout.
Post-pressing, the wine was matured in French oak for 7 months (10% new, from coopers Damy, Sirugue, Francois Frères, and Mercurey). Bottled unfiltered and vegan-friendly, this release is all about site expression—lifted red fruits, savoury layers, and earthy detail.
The wine opens with bright cherry, raspberry and red plum, supported by subtle spice and a whisper of undergrowth. On the palate, it’s refined and mid-weighted with forest floor, dried herbs and a touch of gamey funk. Silky tannins and refreshing acidity carry it through to a long, mouth-watering finish.

Critical Acclaim
⭐ 95 Points – Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion
“Wonderful fruit expression… restrained, savoury, lighter-framed yet highly enjoyable. Silky tannins and raspberry-like acidity complete the picture.”
FinePinot Note
Myrtle Point Vineyard consistently delivers one of Gippsland’s most distinctive Pinot Noirs—saline, fine-boned and quietly complex. This vintage is a gentle triumph. Pair with roast duck, chargrilled quail, or earthy lentil ragù.

“There seems to be a gentle touch this vintage, with wonderful fruit expression. A pinot with all the fine aromas and flavours the variety can muster, yet it’s restrained with mouth-watering raspberry-like acidity and silky tannins. There’s a savoury edge to this, lighter framed yet highly enjoyable."
