Mornington, VIC, Australia
The Kooyong Massale Pinot Noir 2024 is the vibrant, highly approachable entry to the Kooyong universe. Named in tribute to the traditional Burgundian practice of selection massale (propagating new vineyards from the best old vines rather than single clones), this wine is crafted to offer immediate drinking pleasure without sacrificing Kooyong's signature precision and terroir expression.
Sourced from estate vineyards, the 2024 Massale is crafted with the same uncompromising philosophy as the top-tier single blocks. The fruit is hand-harvested and sorted before undergoing spontaneous indigenous yeast fermentation. It is matured in older French oak to preserve its crucial primary fruit purity and vitality, ensuring a Pinot Noir that is both lively and structurally complete.
Immediate, joyous, and utterly delicious. The Massale leaps from the glass with effusive aromas of bright red cherry, wild raspberry, and subtle earthy undertones. The palate is juicy and remarkably pure, displaying crunchy red berry fruit layered over soft, powdery tannins. It is a wine of sheer approachability, finishing clean, fresh, and exceptionally gluggable.
