Yarra Valley, Victoria
42% whole bunch | 15% new French oak | Bottled unfined & unfiltered
Blended exclusively from the same single-vineyard sites that define Giant Steps' acclaimed range, the 2024 Circle of Fifths Pinot Noir offers a different kind of harmony—bringing together the "notes" not selected for the single-site releases into a captivating and complete "chord."
The 2024 vintage was a classic Yarra season, marked by a cool spring and a warm, dry February that delivered perfect ripening conditions. Each vineyard parcel was hand-picked, hand-sorted, and then vinified according to clone, site, and stem ripeness. The result is a seamless integration of whole-bunch vibrancy (42%) and fine oak framing (15% new French barriques), matured on lees for added texture and complexity.
Melanie Chester, Head of Winemaking, puts it best:
“Where the Single Vineyard wines are the pure tones of each vineyard, Circle of Fifths is the chord.”
Expect a bright, lifted Pinot Noir with purity of red fruit, refreshing acidity, and an elegant structural frame. It sings with Yarra Valley energy, but with the deeper resonance of thoughtful blending—ideal for those who love finesse and depth without overstatement.
No fining. No filtration. Just Giant Steps in perfect rhythm.
94+ points - The Wine Front
"This is complex and well-flavoured but it’s the spread of the finish that sets it apart. It’s an excellent pinot noir. Complex blue, red and black berried/cherried fruit flavours, gentle reductive notes, a general freshness, and a silken-bordering-on-velvety touch to the palate texture. Red cherry and strawberry characters are the main game but it darts in various directions from there, mint and crushed twiggy herb notes in there among it all, along with undergrowth, along with woodsmoke. This wine feels as though it’s itching to release yet more complexities; it has that vibe. Time will be kind."96 points - Halliday Wine Companion
"Along with the chardonnay, this is an exciting new addition to the Giant Steps range. A blend of all the single-vineyard wines and mainly from the vineyards in the Upper Yarra. 40% whole bunches. Gently brooding with aromas of wild black cherries and raspberries along with some whole-bunch–derived fennel seed spice and a touch of violets. Concentrated, with far more stuffing that the Yarra Pinot. Ripe, suave tannins ensure this will be worth cellaring for at least five to eight years."94 points - The Real Review
"Deep and bright red with a glint of purple, the bouquet reserved and shy but fresh, the palate medium weighted and plush in deliciously ripe sweet cherry pinot fruit. Lovely wine and ready to enjoy now, although it will take some age too. Excellent balance and palate length."
