From the celebrated Clayvin Vineyard — one of Marlborough's first hillside plantings — this is Fromm at its most profound. Certified organic (BioGro) and made by Hätsch Kalberer, the 2021 is dark red with a purple hue and intense, vibrant aromas of dark fruit, plum, cassis and blackberry, with great purity and freshness above all.
Hand-picked between 4–9 March, the fruit was 100% de-stemmed and wild-yeast fermented with a high portion of whole berries, spending on average just under 28 days on skins. It matured 17½ months in used Burgundian oak and was bottled unfiltered under cork (December 2022). Just 1,543 bottles and 12 magnums were made — a wine of enormous concentration and refined texture, seamless and mouthfilling, with a very fine tannin coating and long, persistent finish.
