The Freycinet Pinot Noir 2024 is a flagship Tasmanian release, dense in fruit yet balanced with the estate’s hallmark tannin structure. Grown on the amphitheatre-shaped slopes of the original 1979 vineyard plantings, this wine reflects over 40 years of family dedication and site expression.

The 2024 season brought a return to warmth and dryness after three consecutive La Niña years, enabling perfect flowering, moderate yields, and harvest up to three weeks earlier than usual. Fully ripened fruit from the G5V15 clone was hand-picked and 100% whole-berry fermented, then matured in French oak barriques (25% new) for 10 months on fine lees.

Tasting Note
Plush aromas of macerated cherry, raspberry and plum mingle with rosehip, truffle and spice, alongside earthy forest floor notes. The palate is silken yet powerful, layered with pomegranate, sour cherry, exotic spice and subtle oak. Supple mineral tannins carry the wine to an elegant, satiny finish. Built for both immediacy and 10–15 years of careful cellaring.

Tasmania, Australia

Tasmania is Australia’s southernmost wine region. Its commercial vineyards date back to 1823, when Bartholomew Broughton planted the first vines. Incidentally, the very first vines in Victoria and South Australia also originated from Tasmania. The Tasmanian wine industry then lay dormant for nearly 100 years due to the gold rush, with commercial winemaking only resuming in the 1950s. After 70 years of development, Tasmania has become synonymous with premium wines, especially Pinot Noir. The island is divided into several sub‑regions—Tamar Valley, Pipers River, Derwent Valley, Coal River Valley, Huon Valley, and the East Coast. Among these, Coal River Valley is the most sought‑after: the winner of the 2024 Australian Pinot Noir Challenge hails from there, as does the highly coveted Tolpuddle Vineyard Pinot Noir. For a Pinot Noir enthusiast, Tasmania Pinot Noir is a not to be overlooked.
