Domaine Pierre Labet is run by François Labet — also at the helm of Château de la Tour in Clos de Vougeot — and stands among Burgundy's most committed practitioners of organic and biodynamic farming. The Bourgogne Pinot Noir Vieilles Vignes is drawn from south-facing parcels in Beaune and Chorey-les-Beaune planted in 1955 (now around 70 years old) from the estate's own massale selection. The result is a Bourgogne that drinks well above its appellation tier — fine, refined, and uncompromisingly natural in approach.
Glowing purple in the glass. A fullish, vibrant raspberry fruit with a light peppery touch, juicy enough though the stems impart a drier finish and fair power. Darker fruit emerges through the finish — black cherries laced with savoury depth.
⭐ 87–88 points — Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (2020 vintage)
⭐ 87–89 points — William Kelley, Wine Advocate (2020 vintage)
Old-vine Bourgogne for drinkers who want serious craft at entry-level pricing — organic, biodynamic, low-intervention, and noticeably more textured than peers at its appellation tier. Serve at 14–16°C with red meats; will hold and improve over 5–8 years.

Burgundy is the spiritual home of Pinot Noir, where the variety has been cultivated for over a millennium. Centred on the Côte d'Or — the narrow east-facing escarpment running from Dijon south to Maranges — viticulture is divided into the Côte de Nuits (sources of the most structured, age-worthy reds such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges) and the Côte de Beaune (home to Pommard, Volnay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Beaune). Further south the Côte Chalonnaise — home to Mercurey — offers Pinot Noir of comparable craft at a fraction of Côte d'Or pricing. Soil composition shifts metre by metre — limestone, marl and clay — creating the famous mosaic of climats that define each appellation. Burgundian Pinot Noir remains the worldwide reference for the variety: perfumed, savoury, structured and capable of decades of evolution.
