CARRICK Magnetic Pinot Noir 2022

Carrick’s highly coveted limited release, The Magnetic 2022, epitomises the estate’s deep connection to its organically farmed site on the Cairnmuir Terraces. Known for its extreme rarity and intensity, this single-block, single-clone (Abel) masterpiece captures the distinctive character of Bannockburn’s semi-continental climate and glacial alluvial soils.

The 2022 season was warm, delivering excellent yields and quality. Hand-picked on 23 March, the fruit was fermented using 100% indigenous wild yeast. After 16 days on skins, the wine was pressed and matured for 10 months in 7 French oak barriques (15% new). Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this wine has the hallmarks of a long-lived Central Otago Pinot Noir, with only 311 cases produced for the world.

Tasting Note

Aromas of baked cherry, star anise, nutmeg, and toasted hazelnuts lead into a vibrant, elegant palate framed by fine, velvety tannins. Earthy undertones, wild thyme, and savoury spice add profound depth, while the finish is long, mineral-driven, and perfectly balanced—already charming, yet intricately structured for long-term cellaring.
