Carrick’s flagship Pinot Noir, the Bannockburn 2022, epitomises the estate’s deep connection to its organically farmed site on the Cairnmuir Terraces and Arthur’s Vineyard. Known for structure, elegance, and ageing potential, this wine draws from four estate parcels—planted 28 years ago—capturing the distinctive character of Bannockburn’s semi-continental climate and glacial alluvial soilscarrick Bannockburn Pin…bbpn22-tasting-note.

The 2022 season was warm, with replenishing early autumn rain, a dry harvest finish, and ideal flowering conditions that delivered excellent yields and quality. Hand-picked between 22–29 March, the fruit (clones 10/5, 5, and 13) was destemmed and fermented separately. After 17–22 days on skins, the wine was pressed and matured for 10 months in French oak barriques (19% new), before blending and a further six months’ maturation in tank. Bottled unfined and coarsely filtered, this wine has the hallmarks of a long-lived Central Otago Pinot Noir

Tasting Note
Aromas of cherry, cranberry, redcurrant, thyme, and tea leaf lead into a vibrant, elegant palate framed by fine tannins and refreshing acidity. Earthy undertones and savoury spice add depth, while the finish is long and balanced—already charming, yet structured for cellaring
