Central Otago, New Zealand
"The 2021 Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir is alive and energetic, svelte and composed. As I write this, I am sitting at the bottom of the Burn Cottage Vineyard in Lowburn, looking up the rows. This is a mineral, nuanced expression, with graphite and white tea, pomegranate pearls, raspberry licorice, rosehips and crushed pink peppercorns. This is what I came here for. It’s thrilling, lacy, delicate and focused. Exciting wine, exciting drinking. It sits on the palate nicely—evenly weighted, and it spools through the long finish… yes! 13.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork. Drink 2023 – 2036."
"Precise and perfumed with lovely aromatics of cherry, violets, and spice layered with hints of savoury bramble and a mineral element of wet riverstone. There is a wonderful finesse, layers of interest, and finely held textural tannins extending through the long palate. A wine with vibrant focus, intensity and drive. Cellaring up to 12 years.¨ - Claire Mulholland, Burn Cottage

Central Otago has quickly established itself as ground zero for Pinot Noir in New Zealand-in the words of Jancis Robinson, "many believe this is where the Pinot grail is to be found".

“Baked strawberries, pomelo zest and potpourri with underlying sweet spices of red licorice and ground cloves. Medium-bodied, finely-grained silky tannins with refreshing acidity. A hint of tomato leaf notes at the end. Zesty and flavorsome.”
